A coffin-bound campaign boss haunting Mercyheart Monastery in Qinghe.

Mechanics

Coffin Master is a slow, heavy-bruiser boss with two interlocking weapons: a colossal sword wielded by a single oversized arm, and the coffin itself which becomes weaponized in phase two. The arm performs the bulk of the moveset - sweeps, slams, and a signature charged 7-hit combo that is fully parryable string-by-string and is the primary route to chunking his Qi gauge. He also applies Phantom Slash, a stacking damage-over-time bleed debuff that accumulates fast across long fights, punishing missed mechanics rather than single hits.His signature special is Soul Suppression: he gains a shield and channels around one of three coffins marked by a purple aura, with a 15-second timer. Mechanic check - the yellow-icon coffin is the real one and must be pulled out of the purple circle, while both red-icon coffins must be pushed into the purple circle to weaken his next AoE and avoid a fresh Phantom Slash stack. Weak points are during the slow recovery on his sword-slam landings.

Phases

Phase 1
Phase 1: The Sword Arm

Coffin Master fights almost entirely with the giant sword-arm - sweeps, slams, and the chargeable 7-hit combo. Pure parry-and-punish phase. Parrying the full combo string burns a huge portion of his Qi gauge, enabling an early Exhaust and Execute. He does not yet regenerate Qi in this phase.
Phase 2
Phase 2: The Coffin Awakens

After his HP empties, the 'Triumphant' kill prompt appears - then he revives. Now actively uses the coffin as a slower, heavier slam weapon and gains passive Qi regen, making Qi-break windows shorter and rarer. Soul Suppression mechanic activates with the three-coffin shield puzzle. Phantom Slash bleed stacks faster. Sword-arm moveset persists but interleaved with coffin slams.

Strategy

Slow defensive weapons (sword, spear) work, but the standout pick is Yi Dao as companion - Coffin Master's slow tempo lets Yi Dao stack damage uninterrupted while you focus on parrying the 7-hit combo. Save healing for after Soul Suppression resolves, not before; the bleed punishment lands hardest in the channel window. Always parry the full 7-hit string - never block-and-trade, the Phantom Slash stacks make trades non-recoverable past stack 3.Common mistakes: ignoring the coffin-icon colour during Soul Suppression (every wrong move adds a bleed stack), attempting to burst-DPS through Phase 2 Qi regen (won't out-damage the regen - must parry to Exhaust), and saving heals through Phantom Slash ticks rather than the boss's actual hits.

Coffin Master haunts Mercyheart Monastery in Qinghe - a Buddhist monastery whose name has soured into irony as the place has become a tomb-tending haunt. The boss is bound to his coffin in a literal sense; the coffin is both burden and weapon, suggesting a soul refusing or unable to be laid to rest. He is one of several 'fiend-class' Qinghe bosses tied to corrupted spiritual sites along Moonveil Mountain's shadow.Mercyheart Monastery itself is positioned as a side-haunt off the main Qianye / Void King storyline, a place where the player encounters the consequences of unfinished funerary rites in the Qinghe countryside. The Coffin Master's revival mid-fight (Phase 2 trigger) is mechanically a death-denial - thematically a soul that cannot accept its own end.
