Campaign Boss

Dalang

campaign released Qinghe horse two-phase possessed handler early-boss main-story

Overview

A noble horse bound to its handler, twisted and possessed by forces of control, standing as a barrier between the player and answers in Chapter 1's opening hours.

Mechanics

Phases

  1. Phase 1

    Bound Guardian

Dalang fights with its handler, the Horse-Tamer, present in the arena. The handler adds complexity without direct threat-they may unintentionally aid the player by getting in Dalang's way. All of Dalang's attacks can be parried. The signature red slam (leap + multi-strike) is telegraphed and parryable but requires precise timing. This phase teaches the parry mechanic and establishes a predictable rhythm that the player learns before Phase 2's difficulty spike.

  2. Phase 2

    Corrupted Possession

The Horse-Tamer merges with Dalang using a purple parasitic entity, reviving the boss in a more aggressive, possessed form. The arena becomes a true 1v1 with no external aid. Dalang's core moveset remains unchanged, but the execution becomes significantly more aggressive-attacks hit harder, come faster, and have less wind-up. All attacks remain parryable, but the pace demands faster reactions. This phase exemplifies the jump in difficulty from early-game to mid-game encounters.
