Fog-shrouded world boss in Mistveil Forest (east Kaifeng) - accessible only after The Ephemeral Blight quest clears the fog.

Mechanics

The seventh of the Fourteen Fiends of Ghost Street - Ghost Master Jiang Kui. His entire kit revolves around an umbrella which functions simultaneously as shield, delayed-strike weapon, and thrown projectile. Three modes of umbrella use: defensive block (he can shield his own attacks mid-animation), delayed-blow (windup that detonates later than the visual implies), and throw (projectile that returns).Locked behind The Ephemeral Blight encounter quest - Mistveil Forest is enveloped in a deadly toxin fog, and standing in the fog for even a second applies the toxin status. The Ephemeral Blight quest finds three cures, clears the fog, and unlocks the Ghost Master arena in the northeast of the forest. The boss himself is not constrained by the fog mechanic - the gate is just access.

Phase 1
Phase 1: Umbrella Defence

Establishes umbrella as multi-tool - shield for self-blocks, delayed-strike windups, thrown-projectile harassment. Pattern recognition for which umbrella usage signals what attack is the key learning curve. Standard parry/dodge engagement otherwise.

Strategy

Read the umbrella, not the body - Ghost Master's tells are in the umbrella's position and motion, not his stance. Umbrella raised = block-incoming or delayed-strike windup; umbrella spinning = throw windup. Treat parry timing relative to umbrella movement, not body movement.Weapon: any parry-capable weapon; the fight is tempo-mid and rewards pattern reads. Common mistakes: reading body language instead of umbrella state (his body is misdirection), engaging in fog (instant toxin damage if Ephemeral Blight not cleared), and chasing thrown-umbrella projectiles instead of repositioning during their travel time.

Jiang Kui, Ghost Master - the seventh of the Fourteen Fiends of Ghost Street, the most feared among them. Ghost Street is a Jianghu underworld faction or location of which the Fourteen Fiends are the elite operatives - Ghost Master's position as Seventh implies a hierarchy (the Eighth through Fourteenth are presumably weaker, the First through Sixth presumably stronger).Mistveil Forest's toxin-fog setting positions him as the fog's beneficiary or creator - the Ephemeral Blight that gates access to him reads as either his curse or his territory marker. His umbrella weapon is iconic Jianghu wuxia imagery (the rain-and-umbrella duellist), suggesting he was a wandering swordsman before joining the Fourteen Fiends.
