Mechanics

Phase 1: relentless staff combinations — sweeps, overhead slams, and grab attempts. Zhao Kuangyin's historical specialty is the staff; the illusion fights at full Chenqiao-era aggression. Phase 2: transitions to bare-fist combos with faster chains and heavier pressure. Not the real emperor — the boss name explicitly reads The Lone Tyrant, the monster Han Wei needed Zhao Kuangyin to be.

Phases

Phase 1
Phase 1: Staff of the Tyrant

Long-reach staff attacks with generous parry windows if patterns are learned. Maintain distance during opening leap and sweep chains.
Phase 2
Phase 2: Fists of Anguish

Gauntlet-style close-range flurries. Defensive mystic arts, healing upgrades, and endurance management matter more than damage racing.

Strategy

Treat as a survival exam: Golden Body, Evening Snow, Heart of Fire, and Evasive Charge are commonly recommended. Upgrade Evercare Clinic charges before attempting. Learn Phase 1 staff rhythm first — Phase 2 punishes panic rolling. The fight is designed to test everything learned across Kaifeng's Imperial Palace arc.

The Lone Tyrant is not Zhao Kuangyin — it is the emperor as Han Wei imagines him: hoarder, tyrant, destroyer of families. [spoiler]Each Confinement Tower floor accuses a different sin (hoarded treasure, stripped generals, disaster neglect); the protagonist disproves them with evidence from the real Sealed Treasury visit. The boss appearance likely matches Zhao Kuangyin at Chenqiao two years earlier — before present-day court life changed his bearing. Defeating the illusion shatters Han Wei's inner world; the real emperor offers wine instead of execution.[/spoiler]
