Mechanics

A two-phase tutorial-and-campaign boss in the Gleaming Abyss beneath Moonveil Mountain - a massive humanoid colossus wielding a scythe with icy-element attacks. Distance-adaptive AI: at close range he uses red-glint scythe strikes (parryable and reliable damage source); kited at long range he switches to yellow-glint unblockable projectiles that must be dodged, plus a separate set of ice projectiles that are unblockable AND apply a debuff regardless of phase.Phase 1 introduces the full base toolkit - slams, sweeps, up-slashes, horizontal cuts - at readable speed. Phase 2 escalates significantly: faster combos, sudden jump-slashes, more aggressive scythe chains, a new red attack, and significantly more frequent gap-closes. The fight rewards close-range commitment because his ice projectiles punish kiting; the punishment for fighting close is just harder reads, not extra mechanics.

Phase 1: Frozen Scythe

Full base toolkit at readable speed - slams, sweeps, vertical and horizontal cuts. Red-glint strikes parryable, yellow-glint dodges introduced. Ice projectile debuff appears both phases. The 'learn the colour language' phase.
Phase 2
Phase 2: Enraged Colossus

Significantly faster combos, sudden jump-slashes, more aggressive chains, a new red attack added, and increased gap-close frequency. Same arena and same general toolkit, but tighter reaction windows demand cleaner perfect parries and crisper dodges.

Strategy

Stay close, stay parry-active - the boss punishes kiters with ice projectile spam and the gold-glint ranged strike. Inside scythe range, red-glints are predictable and parry counters are the main damage route. Cloud Step works as a positioning tool, not an escape - re-engage immediately after.Weapon: any parry-capable mid-range weapon; the fight is one of the canonical 'learn perfect-parry' encounters in the early campaign. Common mistakes: kiting (worst possible response - feeds the projectile spam), trying to block ice projectiles (they're unblockable and apply debuff), and panicking through Phase 2's tempo spike (the toolkit is the same - just faster).

The investigation literally leads down into the Gleaming Abyss, revealing the Void King as the secret the statue was guarding/representing.He embodies the Qinghe arc's buried-colossal theme: the sealed giant beneath the earth, the secret too large to remain hidden. Within the broader story he is one of the 'deep place' climax bosses - paralleling Kaifeng's God of Avarice as a colossal final-zone boss. The 'Void' naming positions him as a nihilistic-existential counterpart to Avarice's greed: where God of Avarice corrupts via desire, the Void King corrupts via emptiness.
