The Void King is the colossus dwelling in the Gleaming Abyss, the underground cave system beneath Moonveil Mountain in Qinghe. He was once a martial artist of high standing, who fought under the banner of the greatest ambition - total mastery over both body and spirit, transcendence of the physical limits. That pursuit did not end in enlightenment; it ended in the Gleaming Abyss, where he became the abyss's guardian rather than its conqueror.
His on-screen role in v1.6 is as the boss of the Gleaming Abyss campaign quest, the follow-up to the Mysterious Colossus Worldly Affairs quest in Desolate Woods. The narrative arc that contains him is the Wraith Village storyline: a haunted hamlet above the cave, a cursed coffin beneath the mountain, a dethroned ruler in the dark, and a slowly reviving Immortal Tree fed by fruits first found in Wraith Village's burned-out rooms.
He is not aligned with the Aureate Pavilion or any other Ch.1 antagonist faction - he is a self-contained pocket of Qinghe lore, a cautionary figure for the same ambition that drives most of the game's protagonists.
