Synopsis

Kaifeng opens with a long road and a tonal swerve. The Young Master, recently orphaned from Heaven's Pier, walks into the Wheatwind Bazaar and activates a Boundary Stone - a quiet mechanical introduction to the city's traversal grid. The world has scaled up. An old lady called Big Turtle offers a handmade turtle trinket for two coins, and the player learns that Kaifeng is a city of small economies stacked on top of each other.The escort role is Little Fu, a child guide. Little Fu walks the protagonist toward Kaifeng's walls and then up to a vantage zone - a deliberate set-piece reveal of the city behind the postcard. The Kaifeng the court advertises and the Kaifeng the poor inhabit are not the same Kaifeng. The introduction's mission statement is not subtle: this chapter is going to be about who profits and who pays.The protagonist is drawn into a public commotion. A large man is throwing roosters at the city guards. The crowd, seizing the opening, releases their own animals at the guards to compound the chaos. The man is Big Zhao - Kaifeng's street-smart power broker, an organizer, an absurdist, and the chapter's most important ally. He becomes the Young Master's introduction to Kaifeng's underworld, the Forsaken Quarter, the Ghost Markets, and the political shape of the city.

Gameplay Notes

Mostly a traversal-and-cutscene quest. No real combat. Functions as Kaifeng's tutorial - Boundary Stones, vendor interactions, vantage-point unveils. The rooster-throwing scene is a scripted set-piece, not a player-driven encounter. Expect 20-40 minutes. The quest is a deliberately low-pressure on-ramp after the Qianye fight - give yourself time to wander the bazaar before pushing into Gathering of Heroes.
