Synopsis

Death of the Governor is a Liangzhou investigation set in the Governor's Residence, east of Skybrim Market Boundary Stone via the Flowing Glow portal. Prerequisite: *The Homeward Vow* Jianghu Legacy. The mission threads a perspective shift (the player briefly plays as Eunuch Zhong), eavesdrops on multiple guest groups, and ends with the Five Remnants / Five Banes boss.The narrative spine is the Zhang household tragedy: Zhang Huaishen holds Hexi without the Jiedushi title the court withheld for decades. While he recovers from an assassination attempt, sworn brother Suo Jing administers the residence — and discovers slow poison in the governor's meals. Zhang Huaiying returns from Chang'an as imperial envoys arrive with a decree timed to split command between Yichao's bloodline and the nephew who kept the frontier. The banquet night collapses into massacre; historical parallels point to betrayal from within the Guiyi army, not outside raiders.Completing the quest flips Liangzhou's world state to 'Fallen'; *A Bitter Draught of Home* reverts it. Released in Version 1.5 'As Snow Falls' (April 2 2026).
